Beneath Our Watery Bodies (2024) is the concluding visual art exhibition towards Bella Deary’s practice-led PhD research project. It is presented as a multi-media immersive installation, combining video projection, audio, suspended latex sculptures and foam floor sculptures. The exhibition has been created in collaboration with marine ecologists working on the Sustainable Urban Seascapes Moreton Bay (SUSMB) project from the UQ Marine Palaeoecology Lab. It reflects on ecological findings pertaining to three Moreton Bay coral sites, while evoking a greater philosophical narrative surrounding interspecies entanglement, symbiosis, and more-than-human kinship in the Anthropocene era.
